The custodial services department is committed to supporting the campus’ environmental efforts by maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary setting. Our professionals maintain interior building space: Offices, classrooms, restrooms, labs, gymnasiums, hallways, elevators, stairwells. Additional preservation efforts include assisting with the campus recycling programs, and cleaning breezeways and parking structures.
Sustainability and preserving natural resources have taking place by utilizing the following:
- Paper Products - Toilet paper, hand towels, and seat covers meet the minimum 30% recycled content; Resulting in preservation of trees.
- Equipment - Automated equipment requires less water during cleaning procedures; Reduces labor cost; Captures post clean-up waste stream, preventing soiled water from entering storm drains; Resulting in water conservation and protecting local streams/wildlife. Hepa-filters decrease contaminates re-entry into the air.
- Chemicals - Floor finish contents are water based versus solvent based; Mopping solutions are neutrally ph balanced; Basin cleaners contain minimal acids; Results in a less caustic, user friendly product, and longer lasting surfaces.
- Materials - Reusable micro-fiber provides increased absorption versus disposable rags, requires less mopping solution and eliminates heavy mops; Results in less land fill waste, conserving water, and decreases injuries.
- Hand Soap - Foaming hand soap increases product usage and is more user friendly that harsh abrasives.
