Reduce/Reuse:
- Reuse cables whenever possible.
Recycle: Computer cables can be recycled as E-Waste or as Wire.
Cell Phones
Recycle:
- Remember to remove SIM card, ok to leave battery inside.
- Collect with Toner and Ink Cartridges, or Place up to 3 cell phones in an envelope and mail to Kathleen Reynolds, Integrated Waste Manager at campus zip code 6002.
- Call x85801 for larger amounts.
E-Waste, also know as E-Scrap
Includes monitors, CPU's, laptops, mice, printers, speakers, keyboards, keyboard trays, copiers, fax machines, televisions, radios, shredders, microwave ovens, telephones, pagers, VCR's, DVD players - almost anything with a cord. It also includes CD's, DVD'S and floppy disks.
Reduce/Reuse:
- If your electronic item is still useable and in good shape contact the Property and Receiving Manager at x86015 for instructions.
Recycle:
- Paperwork must be submitted with Property and Receiving Department (phone x86015) to remove items with yellow property stickers the campus from inventory. Click here to fill out the form.
- Once the item has been removed from inventory, submit a service request online to have your E-Scrap item picked up by Moving Services at no charge.
- Please DO recycle your campus-generated E-Scrap on campus. The University has a contractual agreement with an E-Scrap recycler and receives a recycling stipend which helps fund the recycling program.
Large Amounts of E-Scrap:
- Training available: If your department generates a large amount of E-Scrap, call x85801 to learn how to palletize it.
- Larger containers ("Gaylord boxes") are also available for large amounts of E-Scrap.
Refrigerators and other large appliances
Recycle:
- Thoroughly clean the appliance and submit a service request online. Remember that only appliances generated on Campus can be accepted.
Wire - insulated, all types
Recycle:
- Any gauge and type of wire and cable is recyclable. Please call x85801 for pickup.
