Green and Wood Waste
- The University Groundskeepers recycle all of the leaves, twigs, branches, logs and prunings that come from the campus in the greenwaste bin.
- Some larger trees are chipped on-site, and the woodchips used as mulch right on campus.
- Lawn clippings are "grass cycled" that is, mowed back into the lawn to fertilize it.
The green waste program was greatly expanded in December 2006 to include: all wood products including painted, stained, form boards, pallets, particleboard, laminated particle board, sawdust, and small amounts of plasticized wood which are recycled into compost or biofuel for power plants. The green waste bin is an important part of our junk furniture recycling.
